WATER HARDNESS
Do you know whether your water is hard or soft? It may sounds like a daft question, but it's actually quite important as it will determine how much detergent you'll need. If you live in a hard water area, your water is high in dissolved minerals and this reduces the effectiveness of washing detergents. Water hardness can vary by county, by city, and even by neighbourhood, so contact your local water board to determine just how hard your water is.
Daz Dosing Guidance
SOIL LEVEL
Our dosing tables indicate how much detergent you should use depending on how dirty your wash is. Here's a guide to what the different levels of soil mean.
Clothes that you'd just like to refresh and have no noticeable stains.
Garments that have been worn for a day and have some visible stains.
Garments that have been worn for more than one day and are visibly dirty (eg. some stains are apparent or the garments are starting to look a little grey).
Items which are very dirty (eg. kitchen towels) or garments which have tough stains on them (eg. mud, grass or motor oil).
LOAD SIZE AND WATER LEVEL
All our recommended doses are based on the assumption that you are washing a full load. The easiest way to judge if your machine is full is to place your hand inside the drum - and if you can hold your hand vertically on top of the load without pressing the clothes together, it's a full load.Of course, if you are using the half load setting on your machine, you should reduce the dose of detergent appropriately. Also, some newer washing machines automatically adjust the amount of water according to the size of your load - so if you haven't put a full load in, make sure you've reduced the amount of detergent relatively.
